Are you living your life's work? **Summary:** + Assists in the filling and compounding of all outpatient medication orders under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. Restocks and reorders necessary pharmacy inventory. Actively involved in the discharge of patients with transitions of care program, myPennPharmacy. Ability to use all equipment and tools involved in the procurement, storage, preparation, and delivery of medications including but not limited to computer systems, pill counting technology, cash register and peripheral charging equipment. Satisfactorily passes required hospital and government validation examinations. (HUP - 3400 Spruce Street - Ambulatory Retail Pharmacy HUP NPP) **Responsibilities:** + Accurately interprets and fills all outpatient medication orders, actively involved in processing and delivery of myPenn Pharmacy medications under the direction supervision of a registered pharmacist. Assists the pharmacist with all third-party transactions. + Inventories and replenishes stock. Responsible for maintaining adequate stock in all areas of the pharmacy and putting away drug orders. + Responsible for checking expiration dates of all inventories on an ongoing basis and for performing annual inventory count. Pulls outdated, damaged and recalled merchandise and prepares them for return. + Obtains information for prescriptions such as insurance coverage, date of birth, name, eligibility, phone number, address. Assists customers with their questions. + Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer system and operates available technology. + Operates cash register, including cash, checks, and charge transactions: bagging merchandise, insurance signature logs, and refers questions. + Answers phone calls, customer inquiries and refers medical questions to the pharmacist. **Credentials:** + Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPHT-PTCB) certification required upon hire or within 6 months of hire. **Education or Equivalent Experience:** + H.S. Pharmacy-Infusion-Ambulatory The Infusion Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting the preparation and delivery of sterile infusion medications in a safe, accurate, and timely manner. Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, this position is responsible for compounding sterile products, maintaining cleanroom and equipment standards, managing inventory for infusion therapies, and ensuring compliance with USP <797>/<800>, state regulations, and organizational policies. The technician collaborates with pharmacists, nurses, and healthcare providers to meet patient care needs while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and infection control. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. + Responsibilities: + Accurately label, package, and prepare infusion products for delivery. + Prepare and compound sterile infusion medications using proper aseptic technique. + Maintain cleanroom environments, including adherence to USP <797>/<800> requirements. + Manage inventory of IV solutions, medications, supplies, and compounding materials. + Perform checks, logs, and documentation required for regulatory compliance. + Utilize pharmacy systems and software for order entry, batching, and recordkeeping. + Coordinate with pharmacists to resolve medication discrepancies or issues. + Assist with equipment checks, environmental monitoring, and calibration as required. + Ensure timely preparation and delivery of medications for inpatient, outpatient, or home infusion needs. + Uphold safety standards, including proper handling of hazardous drugs. **Credentials:** + Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB (Required) **Education or Equivalent Experience:** + H.S. Diploma/GED (Required) + Bachelor of Arts or Science (Preferred) + Education Specialization:Equivalent Experience:-A certified pharmacy technician with at least 3 years of previous experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in a community or hospital based retail environment. Additional experience in obtaining pre-certification in the community retail setting preferred. A background as a financial coordinator would also be considered.
