The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode. Morenci is a unique company town where our employees and their families can reconnect with nature through hiking, fishing, camping, hunting and numerous parks. The company offers several amenities, including company housing OR employees who are required to work on-site are eligible for a $750 monthly housing allowance, provided they meet program guidelines, a newly constructed daycare and community center, library, health-care facilities, state-of-the-art fitness centers, a movie theater and a skate park. This program includes a combination of minimal classroom courses focused on Freeport-McMoRan policies and procedures and on-the-job training designed to develop selected candidates into highly skilled and professional trade employees. Successful candidates are responsible for hands-on learning and performing maintenance/operations activities with minimal to moderate supervision, or supports Journeymen in their maintenance activities. + Perform basic mechanical maintenance activities + Perform safe operation of maintenance mobile equipment such as forklifts, stinger trucks and overhead and mobile cranes + Perform work area and equipment safety inspections + Attend required classroom training sessions as necessary + Perform other duties as required **Qualifications** **Minimum Qualifications** + Completion of, or graduation from one of the following: + A structured mechanical apprenticeship program + A certified mechanical training institute; OR + Completion of a Joint Technical Education District (JTED) program + Basic mechanical maintenance principles + Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety. **Preferred** + High School diploma or equivalent + Previous maintenance experience in an industrial setting **Criteria/Conditions** + Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English + Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards + Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment + Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see + Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday + Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required + Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws **What We Offer You** The estimated pay range for this role is currently  **$23.00 - $31.00/hour.** This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions.
