As part of the crew, you'll be tasked with maintaining and operating cutting-edge wayside signal systems, crossings, and track mechanisms. This position goes beyond routine maintenance—you will be entrusted with diagnosing malfunctions, performing essential repairs, and optimizing signal equipment to guarantee system reliability and safety. Based on CPKC's discretion and applicant's work experience you can be placed in the Assistant Signalman, or Signalman position. The Apprentice provides maintenance, repairs vehicles and equipment, and mainly focuses on preventative maintenance and maintaining the safety of all vehicles and equipment. The Truck Mechanic Apprentice will continue in this role until they compete all training requirements. The starting pay range for this position is $23-$25 per hour. Key Responsibilities: Gains an understanding of basic parts, processes, and maintenance techniques as instructed by knowledgeable technicians. Learns how to complete all work orders, perform maintenance tasks based on driver pre and post trip inspections in a timely manner. Performs all job duties in accordance with company safety policies and regulations to ensure safe operations. Assists senior level technicians in performing preventative Maintenance Inspections. Technician A: Demonstrates the ability to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair vehicle brakes, suspension, steering, tires, rims, hubs, PTO, hydraulics, engine, cooling, starting, ignition, charging, lighting systems, fuel and air intake systems, heating, ventilation, and cooling systems to ensure vehicles are in safe and dependable operating condition.
