General Purpose As the Apprentice Meterman, you'll be committed to learning and understanding the meterman craft. You'll posess skills in having great attention to details, excellent customer service, and a sincere dedication to safety. You'll assist the Journeyman Meterman in accurately recording the flow of power across the company system and to our customers through programming, installing, removing, repairing, maintaining, wiring, building, testing, calibrating, and troubleshooting energized and de-energized meters, metering, and associated communication equipment and interfaces. Responsibilities • The safe operation of tools, test equipment, and vehicles • Installing all types of meters and metering devices • Testing and maintaining various types and sizes of meters, instruments, associated equipment, and wiring • Performing Load and voltage surveys • Testing and repairing Instrument transformer. • Programming and testing all meters. Direct Connect and Instrument Rated. Requirements A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. A current and valid Driver's License with a safe driving record. Verification of completing the Electrical Aptitude Test/NJATC (National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee) with a score of 5 or better. Training will only take place in American Fork. You must be willing to permanentley relocate based on the needs of the business after passing the 3-year meterman apprenticeship. (Any location within Rocky Mountain Power service territory Local 57 - Western Wyoming, Eastern Idaho, and Utah) Must pass a fitness for duty physical exam. Physical Requirements May include working in confined spaces and in elevated work areas such as heights from ladders, towers, structures, roofs, scaffolds, buckets etc., on construction sites, near moving mechanical parts, in the proximity of fumes, dust, noise, water, working in close proximity to cables and conductors energized at 600 volts or higher. Must follow safety rules and practices and encourage safe work behaviors. Must be able to currently lift and drag equipment weighing 50 lbs. or more in a safe manner. Must be able to pass a physical, fit-for-duty exam. Preferences Previous electrical experience.
